“Casa Verde” program update

January 18, 2009 at 1:02 pm | Posted in Legislative Outreach | Leave a comment

As many of you may have heard… the “Casa Verde” (green homes) subsidy program has been suspended.   It is a high priority of the RoGBC to ensure this program and others that support projects to integrate renewable energy with buildings are implemented quickly and effectively.    We had some concerns with the implementation of the first version of this plan and hope to use our continued discussions with the government to create a better program.

Offering and then withdrawing subsidies has an immediate and strongly negative effect on the promotion of green energy and related jobs  as consumers and businesses will not purchase the green solutions if they believe a subsidy will be reinstated in some form in the future.   It is our belief that significant green energy support will provide a needed economic stimulus, energy security for the nation and citizens, and maintain and create high quality jobs for the industry.  I believe a letter signed by our membership will have an impact.

We encourage our members to contact us with their feedback, concerns, and suggestions and will incorporate into our response and actions going forward.  You can add your comments to this blog post or call or email Anca Bieru and myself.
