We revealed the top 3 within the Romania Green Building Council Awards Gala, on May 10 at Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest
- AGC Flat Glass Romania;
Stopray Ultravision is new type of glass to be used in facades or windows. It has a double function: during winter, it acts as a super insulating glass. In double glazing Ug value is as low as 1.0 W/sqm K. In summer time its low Solar Factor of 23%generates significant reduction of electricity ( air conditioning is not used on full power). On top of that, the light transmission is the optimum (LT=49%), ensuring that natural light enters to the building. Glass has the highest selectivity in the market (ration between light transmission and solar factor is very high, S=LT/SF=2,13). Stopray Ultravision is certified Cradle to Cradle with SILVER.
- Jotun
Jotashield Extreme Silk is a 100% pure acrylic based paint specially formulated to with stand the harsh climate. The porduct’s special formulation based on a cutting edge technology offers excellent thermal comfort, lower energy consumption for keeping building interiors cool, longer lasting colours and protection against concrete carbonation. The special acrylic binder gives a durable and long lasting silk finish with low dirt pickup. It is ideal for decorating and protecting exterior surfaces and specially suited as a maintenance product
- Schneider Electric;
Transportation is responsible for almost one third of all CO2 emissions in most industrialized countries.
As environmental considerations cause individuals and businesses to increasingly consider electrical propulsion for a wide-range of transportation needs, society is presented with an outstanding opportunity to reconsider its expectation of vehicles and the role of personal mobility. And Schneider Electric has a very significant role in this motion process by providing the infrastructure for the charging stations used by electric vehicles.
Schneider Electric’s EVlink makes possible for an electric car battery to charge at 80% of its capacity in less than 15 minutes, covering all the needs of the contibutors: from energy utilities to electric vehicles users, from the smart grid to the plug, from local supervision to wireless supervision on the charging stations, from simple charge to smart charge to optimize costs.
In our country, Schneider Electric has signed a partnership with Renault, Electrica and Siemens to develop the electric vehicles charging infrastructure.
The winner of this category was AGC Flat Glass Romania.

Electrolux supports “Greening our Workspace”, the demonstration project aiming to transform the RoGBC headquarters into a truly sustainable work environment.
It is a project that showcases and develops the green good practices that RoGBC and its partners have implemented so far, that was planned as a three phased process. The first stage of the project was done between mid-October and the end of 2011.
Green Office strategy and Electrolux vision are closely related : innovation and low-cost maintenance, sustainability and energy efficiency.
In this project, Electrolux participated by introducing appliances from the GREEN line.

The Ultrasilencer Green vacuum cleaner is a sustainable product for a number of reasons.
First of all, it is mostly made out of recycled plastic.
The message that best describes Ultrasilencer Green is the fact that materials usually considered waste can become a valuable prime matter in the process of creating a new product.
Ever since the product was in design phase, its whole life cycle was planned. Not only is the appliance sustainable, but the materials used for packing it are also recycled. In addition to this, after “retirement”, the product is 92% recyclable.
Green facts about Ultrasilencer :
- Each vacuum cleaner from the Electrolux Green line saves about 2 liters of petrol and 80 liters of water usually consumed during production;
- 90% less energy is being used to produce components out of recycled plastic than using new plastic as prime matter;
- Energy saved – 40% less than the average vacuum cleaner;
- 55% of the vacuum cleaner’s plastic components are recycled;
- Silent Air Technology concept creates a sound level of just 68DB(A);
- The HEPA filter purifies the air by 99.95% (HEPA 13); actually, the air that is being exhaled by the appliance during cleaning is healthier than the one being sucked in;
- The s-bag® GREEN dirt sack is made out of 100% biodegradable content, so that it can decompose in natural environment in less than 15 weeks;
Therefore, our “Greening our Workspace” demonstration project has won an efficient but silent green ally in the fight against dirt.
The RoGBC wishes to thank Electrolux for their involvement in our project by introducing this innovative product.

In the lobby area arranged by following the idea and the topic of the “Environment, Technology and Design” conference, held at UAUIM, RoGBC team prepared a Green Corner by using examples of sustainable procurement for an as green as possible office which follows the guidance of the well known sustainability principles: Reduce, Reuse, Replace and Recycle.
The idea of a booth is just one of the steps that we made for the development of the Green Office program.
We made the most of the furniture and props offered by UAUIM. We covered the existing panels by using posters showing office products made by recycled material. The purpose of this unusual booth was not only the presentation but to determine the start to reflect on daily office practices.
I saw, I asked, I understood, I got something concrete … I will implement it in my office too!
For the next event we propose a more interactive green corner and more participants interested in “placed at the corner”.
